Purpose and duration of travel
Define a specific, realistic visit and support it with invitations, itinerary, family context and evidence suited to the stated purpose.
Visitor visas and super visas
A visitor visa is not approved because an invitation is heartfelt or a trip is important. The application must show who will travel, why the visit is temporary, how it will be funded and why the applicant can be expected to comply with the authorized stay.
For family visitors, tourists, business visitors and parents or grandparents assessing a visitor visa, super visa, extension or reapplication after refusal.

Define a specific, realistic visit and support it with invitations, itinerary, family context and evidence suited to the stated purpose.
Present employment, business, property, family responsibilities, immigration history and other circumstances without reducing the analysis to a generic document checklist.
Show who will pay, whether the proposed budget is credible and how the applicant's and host's documents fit together.
Assess the parent or grandparent relationship, host status, family-size calculation, current minimum-income rules, invitation, medical examination and qualifying health insurance.
Address a pending or contemplated permanent-residence process honestly while still demonstrating compliance with the temporary stay requested.
Review the applicant's status, filing timing and requested period before applying to extend a stay from inside Canada.
Reconstruct the prior application, review the reasons and available officer notes, and decide whether new evidence can materially answer the concern.
How we approach the work
Every matter begins with the facts, the governing requirements and a realistic assessment of risk.
The evidence should be selected around the visit—not assembled first and explained afterward.
The Canadian host's support matters, but the applicant's own circumstances, credibility and temporary intent remain central.
Income methodology and acceptable health-insurance arrangements can change, so the requirements must be checked for the filing date.
A refusal is not cured by a longer invitation letter. The next strategy should respond to the actual record and findings.

Frequently asked
IRCC's requirements include a valid travel document, sufficient money, admissibility and evidence that supports the applicant's intention to leave Canada at the end of the authorized visit. The relevant proof depends on the purpose and the applicant's circumstances.
No. An invitation may help explain the purpose, accommodation and support, but IRCC still assesses the applicant's own finances, ties, history, credibility and temporary intent.
The super visa is for eligible parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens, permanent residents or registered Indians. It includes specific host-income, invitation, medical examination and private health-insurance requirements.
IRCC requires qualifying private health insurance valid for at least one year from the date of entry. The insurer and policy must meet the current published requirements, and proof of coverage is needed on each entry.
IRCC states that qualifying super visa holders who enter Canada after June 22, 2023 may stay for up to five years at a time. The border officer makes the final entry decision and the authorized period should be confirmed on admission.
Potentially. Canadian law recognizes dual intent, but the applicant must still satisfy the temporary-residence requirements. The application should disclose the permanent process and explain why the applicant will comply with the temporary stay if permanent residence is not granted first.
A further application may be possible, but it should not simply repeat the refused case. The refusal reasons, prior evidence and any officer notes should be reviewed before deciding what has materially changed.
